About Quarrydene
"Quarrydene" was the name of my great grandmother's country estate in Castleford, Yorkshire, England. It was also her kennel name while she was breeding dogs in the early 1900s. Because of her, my grandmother, and then my mother continued on breeding and showing Cairns. I am proudly carrying on a family legacy. Below is some history of our family, with many wonderful old pictures of our Cairns.
I have grown up with Cairns as an integral part of family life. As a youngster I was always attending dog shows with my mother, and was an active Junior Handler. My favorite Cairn at home was Highhedges Thumbelina (as you can tell my mother let me name her). We had many special moments together, and I showed her too many titles. Today I am a keen enthusiast, breeding, showing, and caring for a small household of Cairns. All my dogs are house pets who either live with me and my husband, or friends who also have a love for Cairns.
Our Cairns
Cairns are an integral part of my family life, and all I do with them is to benefit the breed, and the sport of Purebred dogs .
As a breeder, I recognize I have a responsibility toward the breed, and I strive to breed Cairns of correct type, good health and temperament, and free of genetically transmitted defects. All my Cairns are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), and I adhere to their breeding guidelines. As a member of the Cairn Terrier Club of Canada (CTCC) I abide by their code of conduct, follow their Cairn health testing guidelines, and all other guidelines that are recommended as a breeder and exhibitor in Canada.
I keep detailed records of all my Cairns, and do my best to follow my Cairns, throughout their life. I know I am in a position of trust in the Cairn community, and I take the ethics of breeding, and the responsibility of raising my dogs seriously.
I hope to continue with this hobby for many years, knowing there are many ups and downs in this emotional journey, but the life with Cairns makes it worthwhile.
